Just dropping in to say that I am, indeed, still alive. I’m sorry that the site looks like crap. Doing the transfer to self hosting and setting up plugins for the comic book broke pretty much everything. I’ve been attempting to fix it over the past several months but I’m not gonna lie, it’s totally frustrating the heck out of me. Every theme I try just makes it worse so I may just have to scrap the old content and re-upload it after deciding on a new look.
Things have been pretty crazy lately. I’ve been working a lot of overtime at work to pay for medical expenses, which has cut severely into my creative time. To compensate, I’ve been reorganizing my free time and trying to eliminate some distracting habits (like watching too much YouTube). On a related note, due in part to the recent shenanigans with Facebook, and to cut down on my stress levels, I’ve been culling out nearly all of my social media. I had tried this once before but, believing so-called “marketing experts”, I relented and reactivated several of my accounts to promote my work. This was a mistake.
This whole social media thing is too overwhelming for me anymore. The constant feeling that I MUST post new content interferes too much with my ability to actually create new work. This, combined with concerns over privacy and disgust with the abuse of our data by hackers, corporations, and political groups, has driven me to close down the majority of my accounts, leaving only this blog and Twitter. This probably seems extreme to some but the older I get, the more I realize that I don’t want the insanity of trying to keep up with EVERYTHING anymore. I want to slow down and focus on writing, drawing, reading, and my tabletop gaming hobby.
I know that I haven’t posted much art lately so here’s a little piece I’ve been working on for the coloring book.
I’ll be working on the site, so expect some changes. Technology… ugh. Take care everyone!
Heya folks. Just wanted to apologize for the lack of content over the past few weeks. I’ve been dealing with a number of issues, foremost being struggles with my Cintiq. It’s had problems for a while now (ever since having it’s VCU smashed in an unfortunate PC disaster of feline origin). I carried on with it but the subtle screen flicker and cursor jittering have finally become too much for my aging eyeballs and it’s causing me pretty severe headaches and nausea.
As a result, I’ve had to shelve the Cintiq and go back to my Intuos 4, which is a fine tablet but after working on a screen tablet for so many years it’s taking me some time to get used to it again. I am still working on the book, albeit somewhat slower until I either get back to grips with this workflow or secure the $$ for a new screen tablet.
Thanks for your patience and support.
Heya folks. I know that I’ve been a little lax with my updates so here’s what’s been up.
Since I began the Wyrmweaver webcomic it seems to be taking literally ALL of my time outside of work. I had hoped to participate in Inktober this year but it’s looking like that probably won’t happen. Maybe I’ll get in a piece or two if I just totally need a break from digital work but I’m having a difficult time just squeezing in day to day life stuff.
My doctor changed my anxiety medication, which has thus far been questionable. The old one made me very drowsy but this one makes me nauseated. Presumably that will get better eventually but the dose is barely enough to work at this point so it’s a dubious trade to say the least.
I’d like to make it a point to post more often. It seems that video blogging isn’t my thing (at least for now). I’m also a bit disappointed with the current look of the site. The migration to self hosting broke a lot of my image links and I just haven’t had time to fix them. Unfortunately there are not a lot of options for themes that run the comic plugin and I definitely don’t have time to figure out the custom scripting to make it work. Just another thing to add to the to-do list.
So things have been a little crazy and I apologize for slacking off. That’s all for now. Take care.
Heya folks! So the migration is complete, although I think there are some bugs to work out. But the comic plugin is working so that’s kinda the main thing. Trying to work on the first vlog for the Patreon site. It’s been tough, since I really have to focus on the art more than the supporting bits. Oh, how I hate having a regular job. Gotta pay the bills though. I don’t really have a lot of time tonight-I have to upload this week’s page and get some things done before work.
I hope everyone enjoyed the eclipse (if you were somewhere that you could see it.) Personally, I slept through it, though to be fair, we only got about a 70% view from here anyway.
Ok, I’m off. I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m still here and trying desperately to organize my schedule to keep up with all the crap that I’ve piled onto my self. Take care everyone!
