Heya folks.

I finally made it to see Rogue One and I have to say that it wasn’t too bad. It lacked the character chemistry of the originals but that’s not unexpected for a one-shot story. On the positive side, I was impressed with the combat scenes. While keeping with the Star Wars tradition of minimal gore, there was a definite sense that the writers and sequence designers were inspired by more realistic tactics and I found the battles (aside from a few heroic Hollywood moments) to be more convincing than other offerings in the series. While not a masterpiece by any stretch, it did a decent job of tying together the prequels to A New Hope and is worth a watch for the visuals and action sequences if nothing else.

So, it’s 2017 and while I’m don’t really subscribe to the idea of new year’s resolutions, it seems appropriate to lay out at least some plans for the year ahead. I’ve been pretty lax with my art and writing the past year which is something I’d like to remedy. In particular, I really need to knuckle down and finish Wyrmweaver Book Two. My lack of progress on that is probably my biggest regret of 2016. In addition, I plan to devote some more time to art, focusing on digital color works and getting back to some traditional drawing as well. On top of this I need to put more time into social media, particularly this blog and my YouTube channel, and try harder to interact more with other creatives.

One thing that I’m excited about is taking part in Jeff Lafferty’s Sketchbook Challenge. Check out the videos for more on that. I’m number fifty three in the list of contributors so I probably won’t get the book until late fall/early winter but I’m looking forward to it.

Otherwise, it’s generally more of the same. 2017 is upon us, with all its uncertainties and possibilities. I hope that everyone had a good weekend celebrating (or not), and I wish you all the best in your endeavors. Cheers!
