Heya folks!  Just thought I’d drop a little progress report.

As every writer knows, or should know, revision is like, I don’t know, 80% of the process.  A few years back (wow, has it been that long) as I was writing the first Wyrmweaver novel, Black Clouds, I could not tell you how many times I reworked that manuscript, tossed it out to others to comb through, then revised again.  And, in the end, to my admittedly novice eyes, it seemed pretty good.

Now, as I work on book two (yeah, I’m kinda slow), I’m constantly referencing the first book, for consistency and all that good stuff.  And, of course, I can’t help but see, with my hopefully slightly less novice eyes, the mistakes and oversights in that work.  Don’t get me wrong, I think it does a decent job of telling the story, but not a GREAT job.  At some point, all projects have to be called finished.  As somebody said “An artist never finishes, they only run out of time.”  I’m sure I butchered that, but you get the point.  But I think a revision is in order.

Thus, I’ve decided that it’s time to go back and give book one the old George Lucas treatment and fix a few things that could have been better, and SHOULD have been better, if I’d been a more skilled writer at the time.  Nothing so drastic as to change the story, just a few things that should make it a little more clear and easy to follow. I’m hoping that this won’t take too much time away from book two as I try to work on them in parallel.

So stay tuned in and I’ll keep you all up to date on how things are progressing. Thanks for hanging in there.
